Do you know why there's a teacher shortage? Then join us at the statehouse Oct. 19

By now you've heard a lot about Indiana's teacher shortage. You've likely felt it in the workplace-whether through attrition, retirements, colleagues abruptly transferring to different districts, etc. The consequences of the shortage fall hard on educators, parents and most importantly, our kids.

If you had a few minutes with Indiana's top legislators, what would you tell them? What would you ask them to consider to help solve this problem? What if we told you that you will have that opportunity on Monday, Oct. 19?

On Monday afternoon a special committee led by members of the Indiana General Assembly will present information and take testimony on Indiana's teacher shortage at the Indiana Statehouse. If your school is on fall break, or you are otherwise available, your voice can be heard.

Plan to join us at ISTA for an interim session Lobby Day in the morning. Following a briefing on the teacher shortage issue and a light lunch, we will lead you across the street to the Statehouse. The hearing begins at 1 p.m. Depending on the crowd, time limits will likely be enforced on oral testimony. You are not required to testify-your call.
