Educator Scholarship

Purpose

The Indiana State Teachers Association Educator Scholarship has been established by the ISTA Representative Assembly to recognize dependents of active ISTA members who are pursuing a degree in education.

 

Qualifications

The Educator Scholarship is based upon academic achievement and leadership as expressed through co-curricular activities and community involvment. A $1,000 scholarship will be given annually to a dependent of an active ISTA member. This scholarship is renewable annually upon receipt of a request for renewal and a transcript, for three (3) additional years. The recipient must continue to pursue a teaching degree for the duration of this scholarship award.

 

Application

An application form, school transcripts, letters of recommendation, and essay are part of the application process. Students are encouraged to review criteria for the other three ISTA scholarships and apply, if eligible.

Selection of Recipient

The Scholarship Committee will use the following criteria for selection:

  • Academic achievement
  • Leadership ability as expressed through co-curricular activities and community involvement
  • Essay
  • Recommendations

Presentation

The recipient will be announced in May each year.

 

Deadline

Applications must be received by March 1 each year.
