Guest blog: Early Career Educator Conference valuable year-after-year
09/07/2016

The Early Career Educator Conference proved so valuable to ISTA member Megan McAdams that she has decided to present at this year’s conference on Oct. 1 in Indianapolis. McAdams, an attendee at last year’s conference, is using the Early Career Educator Conference as an opportunity to continue her professional growth. Now, no longer an early career educator, she wants to push herself to develop more skills through the conferences offered by ISTA. Below, McAdams talks about her interest in returning to the conference as a presenter.

McAdams will present a breakout session titled, “Organize Me!” She will suggest useful organizing tips on how to store your bulletin boards, lesson plans and more as well as how to keep those digital files in ship-shape.

Join Megan and your ISTA colleagues for a day of professional development at the Early Career Educator Conference.

Register today.

One year ago, I switched career disciplines from special education to general elementary education. I was a 'first year teacher' all over again. I received an invite to a free ISTA Early Career Educator Conference. It sounded too good to be true, and I am always one to further myself with professional development, so I went. What I learned was that there were dozens of other educators out there just like me – going through similar problems and triumphs. It was refreshing. That is how I remember this weekend – one where I connected with fellow "firsties" and learned from their insights.

This year I am returning as a presenter. I wanted to find a way to return, to continue growing, but as a sixth year educator, I will share my knowledge with others. I encourage all educators, no matter your age, subject matter, or knowledge level, to come join us for the second annual Early Career Educator Conference.

Registration is open for the Early Career Educator Conference Oct. 1 in Indianapolis. This conference is FREE to ISTA members.
