Tony Bennett gives unapologetic interview stating he virtually has no regrets
09/29/2014

Apparently_these_teachers_werent_in.pngThe Indianapolis Business Journal has posted an exclusive interview with former Superintendent Tony Bennett.

The interview is filled with Bennett expressing no regrets other than being misunderstood. When asked what his biggest mistake as State Superintendent, Bennett makes an analogy:

“If you sit along a circle, what you see along the circle is determined by where you sit along the circle. And I think one of my failures was, I probably failed to understand what other people were seeing when they sat along the circle.”

Educators began protesting in early 2009 with the beginning of Bennett’s corporate education reform agenda and peaked in 2011 with public protests numbering in the tens of thousands gathering on the Statehouse steps.

Among other topics, Bennett refused the notion that he may have “gotten off easy” with paying a $5,000 fine to settle an ethics commission case filed against him for using his Statehouse staff and office for campaign work.

Bennett’s settlement and renewed interviews have stoked speculation that he may be returning to Indiana in a new capacity.
