04/10/2014

703570_436517373064287_492937251_o.jpgOn Saturday, April 12, more than 200 Indiana college students are expected to join local and educator volunteers to remodel Indianapolis Public School 56—Francis W. Parker Montessori Magnet School on the north side of Indianapolis.

The day-long project, called Outreach to Teach, brings students together from across the state along with other volunteers and a team of building and grounds workers from the University of Evansville that donates its time, service, planning and expertise.

This year will celebrate the tenth year for the program with volunteers who will paint hallways, design and install a 3-D mural in the cafeteria, update the conference room, add a sign to the front of the school and refurbish a garden area.

Volunteers will arrive around 8 a.m. Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz and State Representative Greg Porter will join volunteers around noon for the official recognition of the program.

To volunteer or to donate to the project, contact Roni Embry at 317-263-3352, rembry@ista-in.org or Kathleen Berry Graham at 317-263-3321, kberry@ista-in.org.
