ISTA Appeals Contract Challenges on Behalf of More than 100 Local Associations
06/14/2016

Yesterday, the Indiana Education Employment Relations Board (IEERB) heard oral arguments from ISTA's legal counsel Eric Hylton on the 114 appeals that were filed by ISTA on behalf of local associations. The appeals challenged findings by an IEERB compliance officer that the local associations’ collective bargaining agreements did not comply with Indiana law. After a lengthy hearing, IEERB mostly left the compliance officer's findings unchanged.

IEERB has 30 days to issue final orders. After the final orders are issued, judicial review lawsuits will be filed by ISTA challenging IEERB's findings.
