Elizabeth Daise to Lead Association During Transition

 

INDIANAPOLIS — June 7, 2016

Yesterday, Elizabeth “Betsy” Daise joined the Indiana State Teachers Association as the interim executive director. Daise’s appointment comes after former ISTA Executive Director Brenda Pike, Ed.D., CAE resigned after six years with the organization for a new opportunity leading the Alabama Education Association (AEA).

“I’m pleased to join a vital, growing education association,” said Daise. “I look forward to working with leadership, members and staff to continue to advance the mission of ISTA.”

Daise has more than 30 years of experience with professional associations. Originally from Ohio, Daise served as a labor representative for the Ohio Nurses Association, later directing its collective bargaining program. She joined the staff of the Ohio Education Association in 2001, serving as the assistant executive director. In 2006, Daise joined the national membership and organizing field team of the National Education Association (NEA). From 2012 – 2015, she served as the labor relations manager for NEA. Daise joins ISTA after serving as the interim executive director of AEA.

“On behalf of our members, I would like to welcome Betsy to ISTA,” said ISTA President Teresa Meredith. “Her experience and leadership will be invaluable as the association continues to set and attain its goals.”

Daise received an undergraduate degree from Westminster College, Pa. and a law degree from The Ohio State University. She holds a certificate in Organizational Development from NTL Institute for Applied Behavioral Science and has advised and staffed numerous nonprofit boards of directors.

Daise will serve as the interim executive director as a nationwide search for a permanent executive director is conducted.
