Below is what the Indiana School Counselor Association had to say about Dana and Greg.

Dana Strabavy is the counselor at LaSalle Intermediate Academy in South Bend, Indiana. Dana’s compassion, integrity, and character make her an essential part of her students’ success. Dana has put into practice the latest techniques in school counseling, which has resulted in maximizing the academic achievement of her students. This skillful practice has also lead her to be awarded both Gold Star and RAMP recognition of her outstanding comprehensive school counseling program. Dana puts her heart into her work helping students cope with whatever challenges are making their academic or personal life challenging. She also gives endless amounts of her time to her staff. Dana works closely with all staff at LaSalle Intermediate Academy creating an environment of care and compassion as she advocates for each of her students. It is evident that Dana’s patient and caring attitude is an inspiration to all students and staff.

Greg Chaffin is the school counselor at Bloomington North High School in Bloomington, Indiana. Greg brings an enthusiasm to the position of high school counselor that is immeasurable. Each day Greg is collaborating, leading, and advocating for each of his students. Although his days are packed full with the different duties that come along with being a school counselor, Greg always goes above and beyond what is expected. His students’ success and well-being are always the center of his focus and help gear his comprehensive school counseling program. His program impacts the life and future of each of his students. Greg’s hard work and dedication to school counseling have led him to being honored with Gold Star as well as RAMP awards. The recognition for Greg’s passion of helping others does not stop there. Both faculty and students that have had the opportunity to work with Greg recognize his welcoming attitude and willingness to help with even the most difficult of situations.

Congratulations to Dana and Greg!
