ISTA members to give back to communities during week of action
11/13/2015

AEW_Facebook_Post.jpgAcross Indiana next week educators are giving back to the communities they serve. This effort is part of a statewide Week of Action from Nov. 16 - 20, coinciding with American Education Week. ISTA and its local associations are organizing service events to recognize and celebrate the support educators and public schools receive from their communities.

This is an opportunity for educators to unite statewide to give back to the community members who support public education throughout the year.

Local ISTA associations are organizing individual events including food, book and clothing drives, community beautification efforts, school supply collection programs, and volunteer days at service organizations.

American Education Week was first observed in 1921 by the National Education Association and the American Legion. The weeklong, national effort is aimed at raising awareness of the importance of public education and the accomplishments and needs of public schools throughout the country.
