ISTA statement on the death of HB 1004
02/25/2016

Today, ISTA was pleased to learn that the Senate killed House Bill 1004, the divisive bill that would have allowed administrators to determine teachers’ salary supplements outside of collective bargaining and the creation of a separate defined contribution retirement plan for new teachers.

“Teachers wanted to be heard and it appears senators listened,” said ISTA President Teresa Meredith. “While we are pleased at this recent development, we will continue to work on Senate Bill 10 to ensure our representatives are listening too. The concepts in SB 10 are equally divisive and unnecessary.”
