More than 100 Indiana educators head to national education convention
06/30/2015

18966565649_00a20b8815_o.pngOne-hundred thirty educators from around the state will head to Orlando, Florida this week to attend the 2015 National Education Association Representative Assembly. The NEA’s Representative Assembly, commonly referred to as the "RA," is the highest decision-making body within the 3 million-member NEA. With more than 7,000 delegates, the RA also is one of the world’s largest democratic, deliberative bodies, making it bigger than both the DNC and the RNC conventions—combined.

The annual RA is our time to come together—to learn from each other and explore ways to amplify the voice of educators and unite the nation in support of quality public education for all students. Over the next few days, we will discuss our professions and the future of public education. Members will help shape the future of public education, improve student learning and help enhance our practice.

Indiana delegates were elected by their peers at ISTA’s Representative Assembly in April. Elected delegates determine the NEA’s strategic plan and budget, legislative program and resolutions.

More about the NEA RA can be found on the event’s website, ra.nea.org. Follow along on Twitter using the hashtag #NEARA15.
