Outreach to Teach is the yearly community service project the Indiana Student Education Association (ISEA) hosts.  A public school is chosen in one of four regions on a rotating basis.  Schools apply to the ISEA and are chosen to be a recipient of a one day “make over.”

The O2T event this year is Saturday, April 12 from 9:00a – 4:00p. Volunteers can sign up using this form.

O2T co-chairs, Ashley Molina and Madeline Webb, have worked very hard this year to raise funds and secure over 200 volunteers for the rehab project of Francis W. Parker, IPS School #56. Ashley and Madi have worked with our project managers of 10 years Donnie Dunville and Davies Bellamy, the Indianapolis Education Association, ISTA staff,  Principal Lauren Franklin and Parent Coordinator Maria Wright to ensure the success of this year’s project.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Glenda Ritz will also be volunteering all day at our event.

ISEA co-chairs spent last summer working with local chapters on targeted fund raising and identifying community partners.  To date the co-chairs have overseen fund raising efforts that include cash and material donations of over $18,000. This has more than doubled efforts from previous years. Our targeted goal is to raise $26,000.

Projects include decorative painting, freshening-up the playground, spreading mulch, building storage shelves, landscaping the entrance, purchasing new table and chairs for the cafeteria, organizing storage areas throughout the school, purchasing additional wipe boards, and adding Montessori quotes throughout the building.

A special thank you is extended to Hoosier Park Racing and Casino and Indiana Grand Racing & Casino for their generous donations of $4,000 each to this project.

Additional financial and material donations and volunteers are needed.  Please contact Roni Embry, ISEA Student Coordinator, at rembry@ista-in.org  if you would like to volunteer or make a donation.
