The State Board of Education meeting has so far been civil and board members have been treating Glenda Ritz, Superintendent of Public Instruction and board Chair, with respect.
The board’s first order of business at its meeting this morning was to adopt new board procedures. The procedures were mediated by NASBE and agreed to by all members of the board, including Glenda Ritz.
However, the most contentious of the procedures dealing with the role of the Chair in meetings was mostly not addressed.
We believe that your overwhelming response to our action alert calling to email board members in support of Glenda helped provide today’s civility. Board members told the Indianapolis Star yesterday that they received over 400 emails in support of Superintendent Ritz.
